Thinking about contracting in the UK

There are so many exciting things to think about and look forward to once you have decided to come to the UK to work. The change of lifestyle, experiencing a new culture, visiting the famous landmarks, meeting new people, making new friends, improving your career prospects… the list goes on and on.

As soon as you arrive you will want to start making the most of your new surroundings. But there are many ‘essentials’ that have to be taken care of before you can start to enjoy your new life.

If you intend to work in the UK, apart from your Visa which you will already have sorted by the time you get here, you are going to need:

A UK bank account for your new employer to pay your salary into
A National Insurance Number (NINO) – By law everyone who works in the UK, must pay National Insurance contributions. You will need a NINO to do this.
A contact phone number for any prospective employers to call you when you are looking for a job.
